Free Books for San Francisco's Youngest Readers

Young child reading book with adult

The San Francisco Department of Early Childhood and the San Francisco Public Library have partnered with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to nurture children's love of reading. Through this partnership, all San Francisco residents 0-5 years old are eligible to receive a free book every month until their 5th birthday.

Imagination Library helps families and caregivers build home libraries and supports their efforts to spend quality time reading with their children. The age-appropriate books, reflecting a wide range of cultures, languages, and experiences, are available in Spanish and English and are delivered by mail at no cost to families.
